Buenos Aires surges in entries for fourth consecutive year
South America may have been the last continent to join the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series, but it is making up for lost time fast.
The 2025 J.P. Corporate Challenge Buenos Aires, starting and finishing at Vicente López, attracted a total of 6,680 entries from 145 companies. That is a 16% increase in entries from 2024 (5,754) and a massive 208% increase from its debut year of 2022.
The current J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge has eight locations in North America, three in Asia, two Europe, and one each in Australia and Africa. All of those continents came online with the Series between 1977 and 2011. South America has fit like a glove since its first starting horn.
“Four years in, it’s gratifying to see how the Corporate Challenge has been so warmly embraced in Buenos Aires,” said Facundo Gómez Minujín, Senior Country Officer for J.P. Morgan Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia. “For approaching 50 years, we’ve owned and operated the Corporate Challenge around the world. We were thrilled earlier this decade when Argentina was selected as the first South American country to host the Corporate Challenge, and the year-on-year success has validated that decision.”
The 10 largest companies in terms of participants for the 2025 Corporate Challenge Buenos Aires were J.P. Morgan (2,001 entrants), PwC (290), ICBC (160), Galicia (150), Roemmers (147), Raizen (130), Assurant (123), ZS Associates (111), Fresenius Kabi (108), and Exxon Mobil (104).
“The Corporate Challenge is eagerly awaited every year by everyone, and the company reaffirms its commitment to the wellbeing and health of our employees by encouraging our participation,” said Maria Elena Carballo, team captain for Roemmers Laboratories, a leader in the pharmaceutical industry. “We have participated in the previous three editions, with 30 entrants in 2023, 70 in 2024, 100 last year, and 147 this year!”
Carballo is a National Physical Education Teacher in Argentina and for the past 17 years has been in charge of the gym at the Olivos facility of Roemmers. So, she is particularly passionate about the value of the Corporate Challenge.
“The Corporate Challenge is very rewarding for us as everyone can be involved, regardless of their physical abilities,” Carballo continued. “Personally, participating again in the 2025 edition is very exciting for me, as the main goal of my work is for people to incorporate and understand that physical activity is a life habit and should be part of our daily routine, to improve our physical, mental, and spiritual health. It also allows us to be more productive at work, enhance cognitive skills, and experience fewer health-related issues. Participating in the Corporate Challenge is a way to reinforce these key foundations.”
Event owner and operator J.P. Morgan selected Casa Cuna as the beneficiary partner of the 2025 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Buenos Aires. A donation was made in celebration of all participants to the nonprofit that serves as a bridge between Hospital General de Niños Pedro de Elizalde and the community. Casa Cuna’s mission is to address healthcare needs and provide comprehensive support for the hospital’s activities, as well as offering social assistance to patients and their families who receive care at the institution. This is the second consecutive year of the partnership between J.P. Morgan and Casa Cuna.
The donation to Casa Cuna was a key component of the event for the employees of ZS Associates, a management consulting firm.
“I have registered for the Corporate Challenge because I'm looking forward to joining thousands of people from other local companies for an evening of friendly competition and a charitable race,” said Maximiliano Drab, the ZS Associates team captain. “It's a fantastic way to celebrate our team spirit outside the usual office walls and help others. It brings great value to our company that so many people wanted to participate, run, and help, all while fostering the company's values!”
They were celebrating the individual results in Drab’s office also as Maria Paz Boullosa Romero from ZS Associates was the individual female winner in 21:22. Nicolas Alejandro Espinosa Coelho, running for FUSAP, earned the male crown in 17:22, and Carlos Enrique Landgrebe, from ICBC, earned the non-binary title with a time of 26:04. For Espinosa Coelho, it was a return to the winners’ circle. He earned the male individual title also in 2024, with a time of 18:14.
This was the penultimate event for the 2025 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series. All that remains now is a trip to Shanghai for the November 20 finale. When the last finisher crosses at that event in China, the Corporate Challenge will have drawn 234,156 participants (14,635 average per 16 locations), an increase of 3% over the 226,695 attracted in the 2024 Series.
