Race Details

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series is a world-wide series of 3.5-mile (5.6-km) running events open to groups of full-time employees from organizations within the business and public sectors. Participants may register only as part of a company team—no individual entries are accepted. After the race, each organization groups its participants into an unlimited number of four-person teams in order to determine the race’s top teams. Awards are presented for individual and team performances.

Each company entered is led by a Company Captain, who creates the company team, recruits participants, and manages the team. Teams of competitive runners have a chance to qualify for the Series Championship, where they will compete against the champions from all the Series events for top honors in the corporate running community.

Participating companies use the event as a platform to promote health and fitness in the workplace, foster goodwill and camaraderie among their employees, and show their commitment to the community and best environmental practices. The Corporate Challenge strives to make a difference through a donation to a not-for-profit organization in each host city, and through our operations initiatives designed to make the Corporate Challenge the world's greenest road race.

Captain Information

It is very important that every Team Captain reads and understands the following important race day details.

Race Bibs
Refer to the name on the bib to ensure that each runner receives the correct number. DO NOT REASSIGN NUMBERS TO DIFFERENT RUNNERS! Runners who are wearing the wrong number risk disqualification for themselves and their entire team.

Race Timing
Each race is chip timed. This means runners’ times will be recorded beginning when they cross the start mat and ending when they cross the finish mat. It is important that runners wear the race number pinned in all four corners, unwrinkled, and uncovered, to insure recording an accurate time. The timing device does not need to be returned.

All runners must start the race on time. The start line will be closed 30 minutes after the race starts.

All recorded times will be listed in the race results on the jpmorgancc.com website.

Race Route
Please note that the race will begin at a different location this year. The new start point will be at St. Andrew’s Road, next to Padang. There is no change to the finish line; the race will end adjacent to the Formula 1 Pit Building.

A marker is positioned at each kilometer. The start procedure is described below.

Race Start Format
Access to the start will be via Raffles City (Stamford Road) and Padang (near to Singapore Recreation Club). This is a voluntary seeded event, which means that participants should line up according to their expected running time, fast runners in front. Participants will be released in 5 waves with a 10 minute interval, runners with green bibs first followed by joggers/walkers with blue bibs. Slower participants are encouraged to line up at the rear of each section. This will ensure that the race runs smoothly and will be a more enjoyable experience for all. Only persons with a race bib will be allowed in the Start form-up area.

Important

  • All runners must start the race on time. The start line will be closed 30 minutes after the race starts at 17h30.

Baggage Check
There will be mobile baggage deposit service available at Connaught Drive from 4.00-5.15pm. Bags will be subjected to checks by security officers. We advise participants not to check in valuables and bulky bags. The race organiser reserves the right to decline bag deposit.

After the race, all bags will be available for collection at the F1 Pit Building car park from 6.30pm. Baggage retrieval service will be available until 8.30pm. Bags uncollected after 8.30pm will be brought to the Information Tent at the Hospitality Village.

We strongly advise participants to travel light and not to bring bags to the race site. Organisers will not be held responsible for any lost items.

Company Gathering Area
Company captains should designate a post-race team gathering area and notify their teammates of the location.

If you have reserved a Corporate Hospitality marquee for your team, you will be given your assigned location prior to race day. It is the Captain's responsibility to notify his or team-mates of this location. Please note, there are guidelines with regard to branding of your hospitality marquee. A representative from our team will advise about the guideline. In addition, you are not allowed to stake anything into the ground or have branding located outside of your marked hospitality tent. The public address announcer will not be able to announce company meeting locations.

Race Day Notes
Check the website on race day for important messages to runners.

Remind your runners to drink plenty of water before the race. Refreshments will be distributed to all runners immediately following the race. Additional food and beverage may be purchased from the food kiosk located at the hospitality village.

Scoring and The Championship

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge will be scored using a chip scoring system. Each runner number will have a timing chip affixed to the back. Official timing for team scoring purposes begins when the participant crosses the start mat.

The Company Captain will determine the composition of the male, female and mixed teams representing his/her company AFTER the race. Teams must be organised online using Captain's Tools and in accordance with the scoring rules located here.

Participants will be automatically organised into 4-person male, female, and mixed teams based on the chip times. Each name will be assigned to only ONE (1) team. The score for each team is obtained by adding together the finish times for all four (4) members.

Complete teams are composed of:

  • Male team: four (4) men
  • Female team: four (4) women
  • Mixed team: two (2) men and two (2) women

Company captains must confirm their teams online the day after the race by using Captain's Tools. You may re-organise the automatically assigned teams at this time if desired or necessary.

Individual and special awards will be listed on this website following each race. Team results will be added as soon as they are verified.

Teams of competitive runners have a chance to qualify for the Series Championship, where they will compete against the champions from all the Series events for top honors in the corporate running community.

A scoring team is made up of either four (4) males, four (4) females, or two (2) males and two (2) females. These teams will be made up of the four (4) fastest runners in each scoring category. The team captain will be able to create and submit the scoring team using Captain's Tools.

Learn more about Scoring rules here.
