Chicago Cares plans over 200 volunteer projects per month and is eager to mobilize with participating Corporate Challenge companies.

Jenné Myers has been volunteering since she was 12 years ago and has seen firsthand the tangible difference it can make.

“It is true diversity,” Myers, the Chief Executive Officer of Chicago Cares, explains. “When people get together over service it creates a powerful connection within a community.”

And that is why Myers is excited about the new partnership of her organization with the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge.  It’s the largest volunteer organization in Chicago coming together with the most popular corporate sporting/social event, promoting Chicago Cares’ goal to improve the quality of life for everyone and to set the city on a path toward long-term change.

J.P. Morgan will donate on behalf of all participants from the May 24 Corporate Challenge at Grant Park to Chicago Cares.  It is also committed to using the Corporate Challenge platform to raise awareness for important Chicago Cares programs.  It’s a big platform: A total of 27,175 entrants from 620 companies entered the 3.5-mile team road race in 2017.

“The opportunity to mobilize so many companies and help them achieve their team building, recruitment, retention and corporate social responsibility goals makes this very attractive to us,” Myers said.

Chicago Cares plans 200 volunteer projects open to the public every month, hundreds of corporate volunteer programs every year, and annual events.  One such event is Serve-a-thon, Chicago’s largest day of volunteering. On June 23, 5,000 volunteers will make an impact at upwards of 30 locations across Chicago: breathing new life into public spaces, cooking and serving meals, and more.

If you want to keep the good going after the Corporate Challenge, consider signing up for Serve-a-thon at www.ChicagoCares.org.  Registration opens April 9.

The donation to Chicago Cares is part of J.P. Morgan’s commitment to supporting a not-for-profit organization in each of the 13 cities around the world that comprise the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series.

Registration is open for the Corporate Challenge through April 19, or until capacity is reached.
