A
few changes of note for Company Captains
Significant
changes of note for Company Captains with the 2004 schedule:
All
sites and starting times for the events will be finalized
in the coming weeks. Please check back often to www.jpmorganchasecc.com for
details.
As
always, the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series will
culminate with the season-ending Championship event on New
York's Park Avenue. The 2004 Championship is slated
for Saturday morning, October 2. With the addition
of teams from South Africa and Singapore, this Championship
events promises to be the most competitive yet.
The
Series has come a long way since it took its first tentative
steps in Central Park in 1977 when 200 runners from 50 companies
gathered for the inaugural race in what then was called the
Manufacturers Hanover Corporate Challenge®.
More than 220,000 participants are expected this year.
Series
stresses importance of physical fitness
The Series sends a message that it is not just fiscal fitness that is important
in the corporate world. Physical fitness also is important. Participating companies
use the races as a platform to promote fitness and well-being in the work place.
Runners find it easy to train for the 3.5-mile distance and have the extra
benefit of competing with their colleagues in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
And,
each year, hundreds of thousands of dollars are given to
local charities in host cities for worthwhile causes. For
